Genre, Sub Genre and Audience - Majeda

The Others (2001)

The above poster is of The Others. It is a Drama/Mystery/Thriller and is mainly targeted at Adults. The layout of the poster tells us the film is ghostly therefore, helping us identify what genre the film is. We see this through woman's facial expression and the font of the title. The colour scheme also helps us identify what genre the film is. It is shown through a dark shadow overshadowing her pale yellow face connoting the film is very dark and hoping the audience will experience emotions of fear and suspense.

Friends With Benefits (2011)

The above poster is of Friends With Benefits. It is a Romantic/Comedy and is mainly targeted at Women and maybe Couples. The poster helps us identify what genre it is through the layout and facial expressions of the characters shown. We are shown a male and a female with very enthusiastic and ecstatic facial expressions signifying the film will involve laughter. The fact that there is one male and one female tells us that the film is romantic. In addition, the colours are light blue connoting its very calm something you can enjoy with friends or as a couple.
