Analysis of House Of Wax - Majeda
This film is about six friends who are stranded in a ghost town where a towering wax museum looms ahead. And inside are two brothers who have a special way of making the wax figures look real. Above is the poster of 'house of wax' presented in a cold and dark colour scheme to create tension and fear. Also, the melting wax gives the audience a sense of what is to appear in the film. Mise En Scene and Sound are the main elements that is used to a great extent and reflects the genre effectively. This thriller starts off with an image of the production company which has a re-arranged colour scheme to fit the genre of the movie. Below is a screenshot of the production company which is 'Warner Bros.'
Generally people are afraid of the dark, so presenting the movie with a dark atmosphere may awaken the audiences emotions in terms of fear. The music that is used at the beginning of the movie is very fast and exhilarating, keeping the audience in suspense and anxiety. Both non-diegietic and diegietic sounds of violins and a child screaming are used at the same time. The fact that it is ascending builds up tension and panic.
On the other hand, the dirty, blooded props used indicates torture therefore relating to its genre once again. Below is a screen shot of this. It is a birds eye view and so making the child seem inferior.
