Evaluation..Question 2

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Representation is how you represent a certain social group in a way that is either positive or negative for example in the uk young teenage boys are seen to be trouble makers who only want to cause trouble for residents, a recent example of this is the london riots where the media were informing the whole country of the fact that teenagers are running riot around the city where the truth is that many of the rioters were in fact adults.

I think our thriller opening is typical of the traditional film opening in the way that we follow the stereotypes of society, for example women are nearly always portrayed as the innocent victims and the men are portrayed as the criminal. In our thriller opening the psycho is the killer and the women is the innocent victim. Another stereotype that we use in our thriller opening is the use of a young teen boy who is a killer, this is typical of the society we live in today because young teen boys are seen as trouble.

we have represented men and young teen boys in a negative way in our film because the psycho is a killer who murders a innocent women, also young boys in this country are seen to be trouble makers and in our opening we use that to our advantage as the teen boy murders a women, it may also be a bad thing that we have portrayed women as being week and helpless and the most obvious victim.
