During our editing process of the rough cut we were given some feedback from our teacher. She told us that the clips we had were really good, as we had really good close up shots. But there was a problem with our mirror scene in the bathroom, for example the scene of where Danny washed the blood off his hands and then looks in the mirror, but then you can clearly spot that he has still got the blood on his hands, so we decided that we needed to take the following shot again the next day to Danny's house.

Rough Cut - Evaluation
The rough cut of our thriller shows roughly of how we want our thriller to look. We so far used a 'dissolve' transition in between the shots. I think our first rough cut has turned out quite well as we got the main shots we needed into the title sequence, however one or two of the clips are quite too dark, so the audience wouldn't be able to see it. So we would need to reconsider it if we want to still keep these clips or take them out and maybe introduce another clip or edit a different clip which would fit into the opening well. Now we all have to do is finish off adding credits, titles and choosing a well background track and any sound effects too.

Target Audience...
The target audience for our thriller opening will be 15 years old plus, this is because the thriller opening is not really that scary, we do use quite a lot of blood but i dont think there are any real scary moments in the film. I think that young children may find the film a bit scary because there is use of blood and there is death all of which may scare the children.
I also think that adults will like the film because they like a good thriller film, and there is also quite a lot of gore in the film which adults always like, i think if i watched this opening for the first time i would be compelled to watch the whole film, it is a really gripping clip and it makes you want to come back for more, which is good because the main purpose of the opening title sequence is to make the audience want to watch the whole film and also to tell all their family and friends about the film to get the film and the production company as much publicity as possible.

Cast...
The cast is the main part of the film, without good acting the film would not be that realistic and believable it will therefore put audiences off watching our film, we only had two main characters in the thriller opening the psycho who as played by Danny Porter and the victim who was played by Nancy. I think the fact that neither of us had any real acting experience let the film down a little bit, but we are not getting marked on the acting we will be getting marked on the camera, Mise en Scene, sound and editing but i think the overall quality of the acting was ok as it could have been a lot worst, we will also be able to edit the clips to make it look really good.
Tittle sequences that have influence our films opening,
From looking at other title sequences used in professional film openings I gathered it was important to keep our film opening as realistic as possible. From doing this i was able to maintain our sequence which we used by comparing it to the already made films which inspire us. We were influenced by learning how to make our camera work more interesting and eye-catching towards our target audience.
One tittle sequence i looked at was WHISPER FROM WITHIN
This is a PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER which i found appealing straight away as a viewer. I particularly liked the he bloody effect on the credit makes it obvious that it us a thriller. Therefore, for our credits we aim to give our credits a bloody effect.
The background gives it an old/dead effect which makes it look old-fashioned and it works well with the credits. However, our opening is more of a discrete opening and this one relates more to a "credit over a blank screen" because it doesn't really give away anything to the audience even though it consists of many effects.
Here are some titles of thrillers which gave me an idea of how to present our title in our opening. They all have a unique way of relating their titles to their films.

Day 5 of Filming
On the last day of filming we went back to Danny's house that morning to re-take some of the footage, because after we looked back at the shots there were some errors and needed a couple more shots of the murder scene.
We decided to have a scene where the curtain falls down along with the victim, as she drops to the bottom of the bath.
'Insanity' the title looked really well when we got Nancy to use the fake blood to hand write it onto the tiles which gives a great effect to the opening and we will be using it to end the opening.

Day 3 of Filming...
On day 3 of filming we were round my house shooting the murder scene again, the reason we chose to do it again is because we wanted to get as many shots as possible so when it comes to the editing we will be able to choose from a variety of shots, which we will then use all of our good shots to make the best possible opening sequence as possible.
During this filming day we tried to get as many close ups as possible because if you look at any good thriller movie you will know that close ups are used massively to portray feeling and emotion. We also used a great deal of fake blood to make it look as realistic as possible, we were getting close ups of the blood dripping down the victims arms and also the blood dripping on the floor, when it comes to editing i thought it would be a good idea to put that scene in slow motion to make it look really cool.
Overall i am happy with how the filming day went, we were able to get some really good close up shots that we will be able to use in our film. we took a good variation of shots as well because it would look really boring if all of the shots in out thriller opening were the same. I think that if we had the chance to film those scenes again we would take even more shots to a better quality.

Day 2 of filming...
On the 2nd day of filming we were filming the murder scene in the bathroom, we took some really good shots in the small amount of time that we had to film. We used fake blood to make the shots look as realistic as possible, we put the fake blood on our clothes, hands and on the props such as the kitchen knives.
This scene consists of the psycho walking into a bathroom where the victim is showering and stabbing her to death, we took inspiration for this from the shower scene from the film the psycho where the women is in the shower and a un-identified man walks in and stabs her to death. We took some shots such as close up of the victims face to show the change from being scared to being dead, we also took a shot from within the shower of the psycho behind the shower curtain, i think that shot is really appealing because it creates a tense feel to the opening and you will feel like you want to watch the whole film to see what happens to the psycho in the end.
I was starting to get really stressed out half way through this course work task because I was worried that we wouldn't be able to get all of our shots finished in time, This is because we are shooting on various locations that are not really that close to each other so it means that we have to plan our time carefully to make sure that we ge back in the time specified to return all the equipment.

Day 4 of Filming
on the fourth day of filming we arrived at Danny's area in the evening to re-take the outside shots again as the first shots we took were not much of use in the opening as it wasn't near the victims house.

Day 3 of Filming
After the half term we went back to Danny's house to continue filming, but this time we filmed the murder scene, which takes place in the bathroom. This is where the psycho comes into the bathroom, and finds the girl in the shower and starts to stab her.
We decided to put fake blood onto Nancy's skin and do a couple of close-up shots of blood dripping of her hands, which would make our thriller look more realistic.
The shadow of the psycho behind the shower curtains gives a realistic effect, as it shows the point of view from the victim.

Day 2 of filming
On the second day of filming we were at Danny's house taking the interior shots of his passage way, were he enters the house, covered in blood and then looks in the mirror.
After taking these shots we then took shots of Danny walking up the stairs but just a close-up of his trainers while walking up the stairs. Next we went upstairs to the bathroom were we took more interior shots of Danny washing his hands in the sink, again covered in blood.

Day 1 of filming...
We started filming for our final thriller opening last week, we were taking shots inside my house shooting most of the interior shots that we will be needing, we will still need to take some more shots from inside the house such as the bathroom seen. where a fellow member of my group will be casually showering when a psycho creeps into the bathroom and murders her where she stands. Shooting the shower scene may be difficult at times because we need to make it look as realistic as possible and that will mean that the actress who will be playing the victim will need to loose some items of clothing or we could even just show her showering from above the neck, this would save the awkwardness of us trying to rein act the scene from psycho.
20TH FEBRUARY
The next shots that we will be taking will consist of the psycho staggering around the streets of bow looking for a house of his choosing, he will then casually walk up to the house in a suspicious manner and knock on the door we could either do that or we could go with the psycho sneaking into the house and then murdering his victim in the shower.
21ST FEBRUARY
On the day after that we will be filming the final interior shots from inside the victims house, these shots will consist of the psycho sneaking into the house and murdering the victim in the shower, we will try to use some of the techniques that they used in the world famous film psycho, where there is a medium shot of the victim sliding down the tiles in the bathtub leaving a trail of blood on the tiles. We can also get some shots of the shower head on the blood draining down the plug hole.
22ND FEBRUARY
On the following day of shooting we will travel up to embankment where we will be able to take all of our establishing shots that we will then be able to use at the very start of our film opening, we are planning to put the credits over the establishing shots in the way that they use the the opening sequence from the panic room, if we take panning shots of all the landmarks specified on the storyboard then im sure it will be the opening that we really wanted to create.
If we have time we will also be filming a scene where the psycho is in a plain white room inside the mental hospital, the psycho will be doing suspicious things such as scratching at the walls and hitting his head on the wall. I personally don't think that this scene will be necessary for our opening as i am sure that our audience will be able to work our for themselves that this person is a psycho, they will be able to tell that by just simply looking at the mental hospital, also they will be able to tell by looking at the way the psycho walks and even the small gestures that he makes.
1ST MARCH - 9TH MARCH
After we take the rest of these shots which I hope we will be able to take the first week we get back from half term we will then be able to edit out film opening using final cut, we will be able to arrange all of the shots that we did take in an order that not only makes sense but makes a pretty good suspenseful film opening (one that makes you want more). We will also then be able to add the finishing touches onto our film such as the credits and some of the sounds that I have already uploaded to blogger.

Pitch...
This is our pitch that we did in front of the whole class, during the pitch we were basically explaining what the story was behind the film and how we were plaining to film, we had to plan it all down to the smallest detail to minimize the risk of making a mistake, once we hot approval from the teachers who listened to our pitch we were then able to go out and film referring to the pitch to make sure that all goes to plan. without the pitch i think that we would have struggled with everything because our whole plan was in the pitch so we needed it to be as good and simple as posible.

Day 1 of filming

On our first day of filming we arrived at Bow. We firstly took a shot of the mental hospital and then a couple of shots outside near Danny's house, were Danny (the psycho character) is walking towards the house. As it was getting dark, the shots were quite dark but luckily it wasn't that dark and there were lamposts around, which gave the shots a thriller effect.

Titles Influences on Insanity - Majeda
INSANITY - Cast
The Cast is a major part in the film, as it creates believable and realistic scenes without it you won't be able to produce a good film, so we would need to have good acting skills to create this thriller. If it's not realistic to the audience, then it would obviously put audiences off immediately from watching the film.
Therefore we decided to have only two characters, which are Danny, who plays the Psycho and Nancy, who plays the Victim. Neither of the characters had a taste of real acting so it kind of put the film down a little bit, but we tried our best to record many footage to see which one is realistic enough to use in the thriller. However, as long as the editing of the thriller goes well our casts will hopefully looks realistic enough to our audience.

INSANITY - Target Audience
The target audience for our thriller opening will be 15 year olds, because our thriller is not really frightening towards the audience. However I think due to the use of blood in the film it wouldn't be appropriate for children. Also I think many adults will find the film interesting as a majority of adults are a fan of thriller films and as it includes gory images of the victim which they'd like to watch.
Personally if I watched the opening myself on TV I think I'd want to watch the whole film to find out more to the story, as it makes you jump and making you wanting to come back for more to watch the whole film. Therefore, having an opening title sequence gives an opportunity for an individual to tell their friends and family about it and increases the publicity of the opening.
Both thrillers above are also rated 15 which is perfect as we have included similar scenes from the films into our thriller opening.
Film Influences on Insanity - Majeda
INSANITY - Genre
We've chosen to have a psychological thriller. The reason for this is because a few lessons back we analysed a thriller opening called 'The Stepfather' and 'Psycho'. Both the openings caught our attention, as they had the shower scene which we want to focus on in our thriller and also were the psycho begins to stab the victim. Moreover the main character suffers from mental health problems which affects him from his past, due to this he ends up murdering an innocent family.
INSANITY - Production Schedule
We've decided to begin filming in the middle of February to the beginning of March.
20TH FEBRUARY :
- we will be taking shots of the psycho staggering around the streets of bow looking for a house.
21ST FEBRUARY :
- the day after we will be filming interior shots inside the victims house.
- the psycho sneaking into the house, he will be covered in blood.
22ND FEBRUARY - 29TH FEBRUARY :
- we will still be filming interior shots of the psycho in the victims house, so we get enough shots to edit later on.
- we will be filming the victim during this period too, which is the bathroom scene. Where she's in the shower and the psycho comes in and stabs her.
1ST - 9TH MARCH :
- after taking all the shots we need we will then be able to edit our film opening using final cut pro. Where we will be able to arrange all the footage in an order that makes sense then be able to add the finishing touches, such as the credits and sounds.
INSANITY - Locations
We've chosen to locate our thriller opening at Bow Road. Where the main action will happening in the house, as well as outside the house.
Outside shots
- Pshyco is walking along to get to the house.
Inside shots
- We are introduced to the woman being attacked by the Psycho
INSANITY - Props
The equipment above will be used by the insane character in the bathroom, which would be covered in fake blood or ketchup.
INSANITY - Final Idea/Pitch
Below is a video of our pitch, which we presented to the whole class as well as to the teachers.
So for our thriller opening we’ve decided to revolve it around a mental patient who escapes from a hospital. We’ve chosen St Clemence hospital on Bow Road, as one of the locations we might be using. The mental patient has a twisted mind and a desire to murder a specific family. He will be staggering around the streets of bow, then entering an innocent girl's house. We will be using a variety of shots: close ups, long shots and over the shoulder shots. Also by using a number of props, such as fake blood, knives, and costumes, this will hopefully make the opening look as realistic as possible.

Brainstorm Of Ideas For Our Thriller - Majeda
Wednesday, 1 February 2012
INSANITY...

The idea for our thriller opening that we decided to go with is about a mental patient who escapes from St Clemence hospital on Bow Road, He then staggers around the streets of bow until he finds the house of his choice where he will then force entry into and kill the whole family, while doing this we will get a number of shots such as close ups, long shots and over the shoulder shots. We are also planning to use a number of props such a fake blood and weapons, this will take the whole opening to a whole new level as we want it to look as realistic as possible.
