I have recently learnt the conventions of film openings and have recognised a few in Unknown (2011) and The Enemy Of The State (1998).
The first 10 seconds the viewer is aware a famous actor stars in the film. This convention is associated with Opening Credits. The viewer may be intrigued due to the suspense of wanting to know what kind of role Will Smith plays. His name is the first that is shown, connoting his role is the most important in the film. Also, his name is overlapped with an target mark which foreshadows his role in the film, being that he is the victim or suspect. This could highlight the genre of the film being Crime/Action.
Furthermore, in Unknown the viewer is immediately shown the production company in front of clouds. This gives the viewer an idea of where its located for e.g. in a plane. The logo does not look edited, this could be due to the movies low budget costs. However, even though it is not edited the background is enough to reflect the story line of the film.
